Todd Harris

Todd is a sculptor who works out of a 400 square metre studio in Rotorua; the large space being necessary to store the huge volume of his raw materials.Like an alchemist, he takes cast-off, stripped-down pieces of scrap metal and converts them into intricately crafted works of art.

He describes this process as transmutation, the changing, shape-shifting of substance into another form, to take on another nature and purpose – in this case, from functional to aesthetic, from mechanical to beautiful. He also works with new materials when needed.

Todd began sculpting in early 2000 and comes to his craft with 22 years of panel beating experience behind him, and a love of shape and form in any medium.
